Canon EF-M lenses are not compatible with any other Camera mount from Canon or other brands except for EF-M cameras like the M50ii and M6ii. Many customers new to photography are often confused when browsing lenses on Amazon and find that a specific lens does not work.
There are always questions on lens compatibility.
Canon currently has 3 mounts in production across 2 main sensor sizes.
EF is the most adaptable lens mount allowing it to be adapted on Canon R mount, Sony E mount, Fuji X mount, Leica L mount, Olympus m43 and Nikon Z mount with compatible adapters.
R mount bodies are compatible with EF mount lenses but not EF-M mount lenses due to the flange distance from the lens mount to the sensor.
The other consideration is sensor size, customers should check that the lens purchased does cover the entire sensor. This is problematic for crop lenses like the 28mm 2.8 EF-S lens for usage on bodies like the Canon RP. APS-C lenses won’t cover the full sensor of a FF camera so they should be avoid unless you are using crop video. FF lenses on the hand are very versatile and will cover the sensor of smaller sensor sizes.

Can EF lenses adapt to M43 cameras?
With the correct adapter, EF lenses can adapt to micro four third bodies. Modern bodies will have better compatibility compared with older bodies. Different adapters also have different levels of firmware / software to make the 2 devices work better.
Micro 43 cameras from 2012 onwards or 16mp sensors and above can be adapted. Older cameras seem to struggle with AF and the lens will hunt not being able to lock focus.
How well do EF lens mount to Sony E mount Cameras?
Certain EF lenses can work very well on Sony E mounts bodies. Later generation E mount camera bodies with the latest firmware can exhibit almost native performance on popular EF lenses. In some instances EF lenses work better on Sony E bodies than on Canon DSLRs.
